Adventure is sometimes a state of mind isn’t it?

And when you have your own business, it’s so easy to feel like you’re working all the time and the ‘real’ adventure out there feels elusive.

So finding moments to just enjoy early morning sunshine is a little gem to treasure - it’s a moment I wanted to share.

Isaline loves these walks in the carrier out of a pram and it always feels like a mini adventure when she’s cooing at the dog or seeing something for the first time.

Or instead of donning a wetsuit, pulling up by the road and getting straight in for a Baltic dip in Coniston (don’t be fooled by the blue sky 😂😇)

I’m savouring these precious moments. And while a full day on my bike or on the hill might not be so easy to find, stealing little pockets of adventure is possible and a thing I’m so grateful for!

We love these photos of Lauren wearing our Crescent Moon necklace... When our models arrive for a shoot, they (and we) are often feeling the effects of the week and it takes time to slow down. We stand and joke around together, we’re chatty (in a good way)... but as the shoot progresses, we pause. We slow. We get into the vibe of it all.

We loved it when Lauren ended up sitting among the leaves half way through the shoot. This is one of our favourite shots of her. Happy, content, peace-filled. Beautiful!

It’s so special to reflect that five years ago today, we tied the knot here, in one of our favourite spots in the world.

Standing below the lighthouse, with the autumn wind in our hair, the ocean below and sand quite literally in our toes.

Getting outside and hiking again after having a baby has been such a beautiful feeling.

When we’re in a season of ease (no babies or good health)… do we adventure as much as we should?

While our little one is getting bigger and I’m feeling stronger again, my priority is to get outside, get some fresh air and some wind in my lungs. Even if it’s a classic Cumbrian day… mizzle, aka drizzle!

Getting outside and hiking again after having a baby has been such a beautiful feeling.

When we’re in a season of ease (no babies or good health)… do we adventure as much as we should?

While our little one is getting bigger and I’m feeling stronger again, my priority is to get outside, get some fresh air and some wind in my lungs. Even if it’s a classic Cumbrian day… mizzle, aka drizzle!

Sometimes I’m in awe of where we live. I’ve never understood the idea of ‘when I retire, I’ll live in so and so.’

My philosophy has always been… why don’t you just do it now? I know it’s not always fully possibly for people but living where we love and makes us come alive has always been our motivation.

Time goes so fast, and it’s now been four months since our baby girl arrived!

It also feels like an age since I was pregnant, so much so, I almost can’t imagine that feeling anymore…

But today I was reflecting on how much life has changed.

Have you visited our artist’s studio at heritage site, Brougham Hall? We have a range of laser cut, hand painted wood jewellery, woodturned designs, and photography prints.

Brougham Hall is a key historic venue for Penrith, Cumbria, and a couple of miles down the road from Brougham Castle (run by @englishheritage … and not to be confused - they are two different places!)

We work alongside some super talented artisans at our studios: potters, jewellers, gin makers, a forge to name a few!

Explore the grounds, visit our honesty cafe, enjoy a variety of crafts and see makers in action. It’s also a great start of a walk along the River Eamont. Oh, and there’s free parking.

This Autumn, we are slowly adjusting our opening days at own studio to Tuesday - Saturday. Brougham is open 7 days a week though, 10-4 for winter hours. We hope to see you soon!

Charlotte and I have been friends for 20 years… Catching up on her home turf in the Alps over fromage and charcuterie, and seeing her boys, was a joy.

Charlotte is one of those friends where you just pick up where you left off. For laughs, reliving memories, and just feeling like you need way more hours to chat about everything else that still needs to be said.

Sweet days swimming, paddleboarding, walking round beautiful lakes. Eating fromage, BBQ’s, baby’s first swim in the lake (1 min), modelling jewellery, days with old friends interchanging French & English badly.

We started our trip quite unwell which was sooo disappointing to be in the Alps and then in bed… Very thankful that they mostly co-incided with some rainy days…. but we’ve been out and about and it’s been 👌🏼

With September, comes the birth stone of Lapis Lazuli… the main colour of our beautiful ‘Crescent’ Necklace and ‘Crescent’ Hoops.

And while we’re not into the idea of the healing properties of stones, we do know they have huge spiritual significance… which we like.

A friend once told me that Lapis Lazuli symbolises re-building, and shared this beautiful quote with me:

“I will rebuild you with precious jewels and make your foundations from lapis lazuli.”

It’s always a challenge to weigh up being away from the workshop space when we’re at an event for a nearly a week each…

But it’s so good to meet so many incredible people and share our creative journey … and also hear theirs.

However, this Autumn, we’ll be doing slightly less events to give really good time to making, creating and being at Brougham Hall. And making stock for new stockists! So we hope to see you there.

Isn’t it easy to look at the weather and think ‘oh it’s not going to be a good day.’

We’ve got a long drive ahead today to a festival with our jewellery… and the wind is howling outside, despite it nearly being August Bank Hols.

So we decided that today is going to be a good day, because it’s another beautiful day to be alive, even if it’s grey and wet and windy!

When we took this photo of Beth at @brougham_hall, it had been raining hard … but it suddenly stopped for a short while to get this shot.

It’s a reminder to me that things might look grey and dreary but you never know what’s around the corner!

Plus we love our mint Cara Drop Earrings with Beth’s sage green cardi, with a little bit of pink thrown in for good measure.

Our little girl is already three months old … how time flies!

Remembering back to days before she was born, I had to learn to be present each day. Would today be the day? Rather than wondering and waiting, I tried to make the most of every day… knowing that life wouldn’t be the same after that.

As some friends will know, I was not keen on medically interfering through unnecessary induction when she was technically ‘overdue’ (useful to have if needed of course). It meant a lot to me that she arrived naturally. If she wasn’t in a rush, then neither was I. And so I waited it out.

And as I waited, I painted a lot of jewellery in those extra weeks, sipped a lot of herbal tea, ate a lot of cake and tried to naturally induce her through various methods which involved getting in cold water! It didn’t really work but it was a lot of fun! 💦

And life is not the same… But having a little one is absolutely up there with the best thing I’ve done in my life. And so we celebrate her at three months 😃 👶 💦
